• State v. Egley, Case No. 161700342, Murder in the Second Degree (1970), Lead Counsel on Attorney General team working with Carbon County Attorney’s Office to solve 1970 murder of a young mother in Price, Utah. 47 years later, defendant was located, arrested, and ultimately pled and was sentenced to prison for 10 years to life in prison.
• State v. McFarland, Case No. 12160001, Aggravated Homicide, Lead Counsel on Attorney General team working with Sanpete County Attorney’s Office, obtaining defendant’s plea to homicide of two elderly persons, serving two life sentences without the opportunity for parole.
• State v. Martin Vuksinick, Case No. 091904359, Aggravated Homicide, Prosecutor with Lead Counsel Chad Platt, defendant pled to Homicide, 20 years to life in prison. Active with scene investigation and autopsy, assisted with warrant preparations, screening and filing of charges.
• State v. John White, Case No. 101908879; Lead Counsel, Domestic Violence Homicide. Defendant charged with stabbing his mother to death. Present for scene investigation, assisted with warrant preparations, screening and filing of charges, and prosecution of case. Defendant sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
• State v. Angie Barker, Case No. 091905237; Lead Counsel, Aggravated Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult Causing Death, alleging neglect resulting in the death of Beatrice Barker. First aggravated neglect case tired by jury involving aggravated neglect of an elder Adult, guilty of lesser included offense.
• State v. Kenneth Tupea, Case No. 101904920; Prosecutor to Lead Counsel Alicia Cook, Defendant accused of pushing his uncle down the stairs of his home, causing his death. Defendant pled guilty-mentally ill.
• State v. Gary Toland, Case No. 081901112; Homicide, Lead Counsel, Defendant’s girlfriend found in Jordan River 60 days after her disappearance. Circumstantial case. Pled to Manslaughter, sentenced to 1 to 15 years in prison.
• State v. Michael Jones, Case No. 071900185; Prosecutor with Lead Counsel Katie Bernards-Goodman, Cold Case Homicide occurring February, 2004 and charged in 2007. First case to be filed based on Y-DNA evidence. At jury trial, Defendant was found guilty as charged by Jury, sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.
• State v. Daniel Olivera, Case No. 091907897; Homicide, Member of Prosecuting team with Lead Counsel Fred Burmester, present for scene investigation, assisted with warrant preparations, screening and filing charges, assigned to prosecution team. Defendant sentenced to 16 years to life in prison.
• State v. Karen Searle, Case No. 061905622; Automobile Homicide, Lead Counsel, good Samaritan struck by intoxicated driver on I-15 late at night, on her cell phone required scene reconstruction, defendant pled to lesser included offense.
• State v. Jason Berning, Case No. 051908854; Automobile Homicide, Lead Counsel, driver with measurable metabolite struck elderly couple, killing passenger, defendant pled to lesser included offense.
